The Heritage Express

There's a little story about The Heritage Express steam train, which became my nemesis while passing through Erskineville station on a Sunday back in June 2015. I was walking across the Erskineville bridge when this spectacular train whooshed under me surrounding the whole bridge in an array of steam. It looked so incredible that all I could think about was capturing that moment on film.

So began my adventure over many weekends of trying to get a picture of the steam train. Every time I heard the toot, I would run over the road to capture it. Every time it was over the hill on the other train line that goes through Newtown. Other times when I heard it, without running outside with my camera, curiosity would get the better of me, so I looked outside to check and behold there it was on the Erskineville line. Would I ever get this picture? I looked at the timetable to try to plan a weekend, as this at least was a guarantee that I would possibly get a picture, sitting and waiting on the right train line on a free weekend.

Last Sunday I heard a toot, grabbed my camera and ran across the road to finally get my first picture of it... and here it is!
